What ChatGPT-4o means for education

Hello EduCreator!

Yesterday OpenAI released ChatGPT-4o, it’s latest model that combines audio, text, and video into on chat. And this is FREE for all users! What does this mean?

Here are a few highlights:

Conversational AI

This new version of ChatGPT allows users (individually or in groups) to interact in a live “human-like” conversation with appropriate inflection and memory. This means chat can now be prompted to be an expert tutor, couples counselor, meeting facilitator and so much more!

Live Translation

Now that live conversation with AI (or even between multiple AIs) is a real possibility, language barriers can be more effectively removed between humans. This is a BIG DEAL not only for language learning, but for building businesses and communities that are accessible globally. What’s the best way to learn any language? Through immersive conversation!

Sentiment Analysis

This really blew my mind! The reason ChatGPT-4o feels so “human-like” is because it has been trained to do sentiment analysis. This means it can do things like analyze a video of a person speaking and give an analysis of how that person “seems” to be feeling in the moment. One powerful use case for this would be helping people with Autism learn about abstract concepts through conversation, such as human sentiment.

Learning how to prompt will be the key that unlocks any AI tool or update that comes out. In this thread, I show video clips provided by OpenAI and share 7 different ways education could be transformed. Notice how the AI is prompted in the videos. This will be key to ensuring the technology is truly optimized and used responsibly.
