Hello {{first_name | EduCreator}},
This is not click bait. I really deleted the app from my phone and haven’t logged in for 2 weeks. I had no idea I was going to do this 24 hours before I did it, but I did know something wasn’t feeling right in my soul about the time I was spending on X.
At some point, without me realizing it, X had become a major distraction. Probably an addiction if I’m being honest.
I was spending 5-6 hours a day on the platform, mostly on Spaces. At the end of the day, I would be exhausted. I would pick up Romeo from school and feel completely depleted.
I would tell myself:
I’m here for business. This is where my community is.
But the truth was, I was spending time yapping with people I called friends. It wasn’t until two Fridays ago, when I was hosting my daily Space and a woman came on stage insisting on engaging in a debate we had already had at least 3 times before, that I realized my definition of friendship was way off.
This inner circle turned on me quickly. Said I was being harsh and I should have just let her speak (I dropped her from the speaker panel when she insisted on a debate I wasn’t open to having… the topic was The Art of Forgiveness).
I couldn’t sleep that night. I prayed for guidance. For discernment. And when I woke up in the morning, I got the exact message I needed: an email from my church inviting me to participate in a corporate fast. I knew right away this was my sign to take a break.
I decided to spend the time I wasn’t spending on X building my newsletter business and growing a presence on LinkedIn. What I learned quickly, within days, is that this is where my ideal audience (and client) is. The results have shocked even me.
I learned a valuable lesson and I hope to pass it on to you with this letter.

Know Who You Serve and Where They Are
When we are talking to the right people in the wrong places, our value is quickly diminished and we tend to blame ourselves.
Every platform has a different persona.
Different attention patterns.
Different spending habits.
If you ignore that reality, you burn time, energy, and confidence.
I learned this the hard way.
The Mistake I Was Making
For a long time, I assumed X was the best platform for me because of how easy it felt to grow an audience and build a community.
My message was clear.
My positioning was solid.
The effort was there.
What I could not understand was why so few conversations turned into real opportunities while most only turned into followers and maybe a subscriber.
Nothing was broken.
I just was not paying attention to behavior.
The Shift That Changed Everything
Once I slowed down and actually observed how people showed up, everything clicked.
My ideal client was on LinkedIn.
My community members were on X.
Same mission.
Different roles.
On LinkedIn:
People think in terms of ROI
They are problem aware
They are comfortable investing in solutions
They want clarity and outcomes
On X:
People want conversation
They want ideas in progress
They want access and community
They are early in the journey
Once I accepted this, everything got simpler overnight.

Serving Each Platform With Intention
I’m no longer going to try and force business growth where my audience is not interested in investing in my expertise at a premium. I’ll be back on X after this fast is over (Monday) and I’m looking forward to it. I have a renewed vision and purpose:
LinkedIn is where I will:
Teach clearly
Share frameworks
Talk about offers
Book calls
Build trust for decision making
X is where I will:
Explore ideas
Build relationships
Test language
Support builders
Grow community energy
Same founder.
Different service mindset.
This is what I was missing.
Why This Matters More Than Growth
When you understand who your ideal client is and where they spend time, you stop chasing attention.
Instead you create content faster, feel less pressure to be everywhere, stop comparing platforms, make better decisions about your time, and build momentum without burnout.
Your business becomes calmer because your strategy is aligned with human behavior.
Not every follower is a buyer.
Not every platform is for selling.
Not every space needs the same version of you.
And that is not a problem.
It is leverage.
The Question We Should Be Asking
Instead of asking:
Where should I post more
Ask:
Where do people already expect to invest
That one shift changes everything.
Use This Prompt to Get Clear: Ideal Client and Platform Clarity
Copy and paste this into ChatGPT and answer honestly.
I am a founder building a business around my expertise.
Help me clarify:
- Who my ideal client is
- What problem they are actively trying to solve
- Which platforms they likely use for learning versus buying
- How they behave differently on each platform
- What type of content builds trust on each platform
- Where I should focus my primary energy versus secondary presence
Ask me any follow up questions if needed and then summarize.
The Valuable Lesson
Growth is not about doing more.
It is about being precise.
When you know who you serve and where they already are, your time stops being wasted and your work starts feeling intentional.
That clarity compounds faster than any algorithm ever will.
That’s all for now,
Christel
