A Super Rare High Value Skill

I never imaged the doors that would open for me when I first began learning how to build custom tools with AI and prompt engineering. After a year and a half, I see that people are becoming more and more overwhelmed with options and not knowing where to begin.

As an AI Teacher and Consultant, I believe it’s the fundamental skills that are missing from most AI learning. Instead of highly technical language or another tool to learn, 99% of the world would benefit greatly from learning the core concepts of prompt engineering.

What is Prompt Engineering?

To effectively use any AI tool put in front of you, you’ll need to know how to communicate with the model (ie. OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Google’s Gemini). A prompt is most simply a set of instructions given.

This skill is the key to unlock so many doors. Once you know how to ask AI for what you need to build, you have the key to generate high quality outputs and the code to build apps and agents.

The skill that only 5% of AI users have

Most of us are used to context based chatbots and apps. When you go to a business’ website and you’re given the option to engage with a chatbot, it is usually a “context based” system. This means there was a certain amout of information (context) loaded into the chatbot’s knowledge base.

When a customer asks a question, such as “what are the store hours?” or “what is your refund policy?,” the answer comes directly from the uploaded context.

AI Agents take chatbots to the next level and are the future for automating business operations and any workflow. When people imagine a world where AI is replacing jobs, they are thinking of AI agents.

The main difference between a context based chatbot and an agent is the level of autonomy and human input needed. An AI Agent is assigned tasks to complete, such as pulling information from a database or bringing back the latest news after searching for headlines. This gives the creator and builder of the agent a seemingly unlimited number of options for ways to automate.
