Who were you 7 years ago?

7 years ago I walked away from a 10 year career that I spent the same amount of years preparing for during secondary and post secondary schooling. I had been promoted as high as I was willing to go. Next step would have been a principal or a school founder, and for a year, I entertained the idea of starting my own charter school. My first consulting gig after officially leaving the DC school system was developing the student support program for a new charter school in it’s planning year.

This experience taught me that I wanted nothing to do with the public education system. On any level. Instead I focused on my new consulting practice as an education expert for school founders and non-profit leaders.

One of my favorite projects was supporting school founder Myron Long and his team with student recruitment for a new charter school. When covid lockdowns hit us in early 2020, I quickly helped them adjust their program to meet the needs of learners and educators remotely. This was the beginning of a 7 year journey learning how to engage, teach, and lead communities and teams online.

Today I’ll be soft-launching my first app (web and mobile) during our 9th OCC Community launch. Please come and share anything you are working on. I hope you’ll join me in this exciting project and allow the OCC Agency team to help you bring your vision to life through your own app.
