It seems like everyone is after that illusive magic internet money. And for good reason! With the advancement of content generation technology through machine learning and large language models (aka AI), automating monetizable content and brand assets has never been more accessible and user-friendly. Finally there is technology for us “non-techies.”
YouTube is flooded with videos about how to make $10k/month with ChatGPT, but the problem is, most of these creators are leaving out a very crucial first step that without doing correctly will make monetizing feel like magic or only for the lucky. But there is a formula to this and no matter where you are in your journey, we all should be focused on the same goal as social media content creators and community builders:
GROW YOUR AUDIENCE.
Without an audience, there is no community and no email list. So we have to start here. How do we grow an engaged, loyal audience of fans, supporters, and students? By going through the validation process of understanding the problem we’re solving, who we’re solving it for, and how we’re uniquely positioned to solve this problem. Once we have this down, we can create a lead magnet and/or digital product that directly addresses this problem.

Topic: Monetizing Your Emails
Mini-Lesson: How to grow and monetize your email list on any social media platform
0) Get into the habit of consistently posting content
To monetize, you’ll need to create content that is solving a problem consistently. When you begin, don’t worry about making money, just get into the habit of regularly creating content. Put in the reps for at least 30 days and then analyze your content to see what resonates with your audience most.
1) Find the right teachers and communities to join
This is the best first step I could think of because it’s truly how I began my journey on Clubhouse and on X. I had to really humble myself and learn from the best content creators I could. Take notes, sign up for their courses, watch their videos and implement what you’re learning.
2) Become a super supporter
This step is so important and many don’t see success because they are skipping this part. Use tools like TweetDeck and SpacesDashboard to find creators in your niche. Create engagement lists and get into live events as a listener/speaker. Make intentional connections and show up strong.
3) Create high value collaborations and host regularly scheduled events with speaker panels
Once you’ve spent some time engaging and making connections through spaces (live events) and in the comment section, start to hit up those DMs and set up 1:1 calls to plan collaborative events. This is where you start to really leverage other peoples’ audiences and bring more value to the table. Have your email list sign up ready to go in your bio so you can always have a call to action.
4) Analyze transcripts and polls/surveys to create a validated product
Use AI tools like Zealous to download transcripts from any X space you host or Otter.AI for other live events. Add the transcript to ChatGPT and ask for an analysis of the conversation with a special focus on pain points. You can also create polls, surveys, and assessments to get to know your audience better and use ChatGPT to analyze the results.

5) Create a lead magnet and grow a community email list with it
Lead magnets are an excellent way to grow your email list and promote your digital product. If you create a 5-Day Educational Email Course using our GPT, add a call to action at the end of each email with a link to your digital product or other offerings.

6) Get in the habit of sending regular monetizable emails to your community
Adding affiliate links for products you mention in your email (check out Amazon Associates) and Buy Me a Coffee options are great ways to quickly begin monetizing your emails. Always include an element of storytelling to take the reader on a journey of understanding why they need the solution you’re offering. Include a call to action at the end of every email with a link to your product or service.
7) Launch your product or service offering along with your lead magnet
Once you have a validated product and a lead magnet to support it, it’s time to launch. Build a pre-launch beta group to give you direct feedback and make any necessary iterations before the official launch.
